Don’t you ever just wonder ‘why?’ Well, I do and more often than not, it’s in the shower. Something about being cornered off inside that little tiled steamy box really stimulates thought for me. I’m not often questioning the particularly smaller things like ‘what’s for dinner?’ or ‘what’s the temperature today?’ but the big kahuna’s; the kind of questions I always avoided by keeping busy or my mind focused, the kind of questions nobody can answer. There’s something I enjoy about exploring an idea that there isn’t an answer/wikipedia/explanation for. It provokes such a unique personal interpretation and comprehension. So with that, each week I’m going to try and answer a question there seems to be no agreed or proven answer to. Why do we dream? Some people think dreams are thoughts that are suppressed while your awake because they’re inappropriate or irrelevant. Others believe it’s just your imagination running wild. I believe dreams are a combination of reality and your imagination. I believe they hold a deeper meaning but aren’t meant to be understood. What you experience in your dreams are functions and senses of the real world however you’re now the creator. I certainly envy the individuals who have mastered lucid dreaming and can consciously create their own paths while asleep, that’d be something else. Why do you think we dream?
